LB Harold Landry – 2021 PFF 63.0

The Browns have two needs, one more pressing than the other but could both be solidified with this one signing. Those needs are linebacking help and pass-rushing. While some will see Harold Landry’s name and think “how will an outside linebacker help the Browns”, keep in mind that Cleveland doesn’t play guys in single spots.

Landry is 6’2 and 255, he’s actually heavier than Jadeveon Clowney. Landry could line up as a linebacker for two downs if need be, and then move down to the line as an end for pass-rushing downs. If Myles Garrett can line up inside at tackle sometimes, why not have Landry move to an end spot every once in a while.

Or, you know, the Browns could blitz more than twice a game. Either option works.

The Browns should probably let Anthony Walker leave, as Sione Takitaki can replace him in the lineup, and is a better cover guy anyway. Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah isn’t going anywhere, and the Browns do need more help pass-rushing, as none of the three primary starters last year could really do that.

Walker had a good year for the Browns and if he can be brought back on a real team-friendly deal, then good. Otherwise, if you have to sacrifice a guy to bring in someone like Landry, Walker seems like the name to go.
