Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DE. 53. LSU. Ali Gaye. 75. player

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that the Cleveland Browns add a defensive end in the third round. The team is fine, not great, but fine at the position. They’re hoping to bring back Jadeveon Clowney for 2022, as he was a great option against the run, even if he wasn’t a tremendous pass rusher.

He still did well, but he’ll never be a high-volume sack guy. The Browns would be wise to bring back guys like Clowney and Porter Gustin but even if they do bring back those two pieces, they’ll still need more talent on the line, as both men are more geared to stopping the run.

Beyond them, theres’ really nothing the Browns have at the position beyond those guys. Takk McKinley was an utter disappointment and no one else even made enough of an impact to warrant being discussed.

No surprise that WalterFootball has the Browns taking Ali Gaye in the third round.

"The Browns need to improve their pass rush outside of Myles Garrett. Ali Gaye has huge upside, but hasn’t quite lived up to it yet at LSU. Pick change; previously Sam Williams, DE"

If you read Pro Football Networks’ evaluation of Gaye, this isn’t a prospect that has a lot of holes that would deal breakers. Instead, the criticisms are about his techniques. Those are things coaches can correct, and if all he needs is better coaching, this could be a heck of a steal.
