Sign Chris Godwin

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are heading to a rebuild. There are talks about them going to get a guy like Jimmy Garoppolo to replace the recently retired Tom Brady and that seems like a bold move. This isn’t a young team, with most of their vets either 28 or older. The smart thing to do is blow up the core, make some tough moves to free up their cap space, and get younger.

That means that Chris Godwin may not be a priority for them. The 26-year-old is coming off of a great season that was ended by an ACL injury, and with the fact that the team is too old to compete without Brady, he could be seeing a long-rebuild in his future in Tampa Bay. As he’s a free agent, Godwin can sign anywhere. The Cleveland Browns need to go all-in on him and try to convince him to come to the Browns.

He’d instantly make the Browns a more dangerous vertical team with his speed, and while some will likely point out that he’s coming off of major surgery, it’s also important to remember that while an ACL repair requires time, it’s far from the same devastating injury that it was even just 10 years ago.
