NFL Draft Round 1, Picks 26-32

26. Tennessee, Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington

At 5-foot-11, some are worried about his height, but I keep reading McDuffie plays bigger. He’s probably disciplined enough to contribute on day one.

27. Buccaneers, Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida

Elam is fast, physical and has the size (6-foot-2) and  speed. I’m counting on the Bucs adding a veteran quarterback to make another run at the Super Bowl following Tom Brady’s retirement. The defense has to be ready to go and Elam can make an instant impact.

28. Packers, Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama

We all think Aaron Rodgers is on his way out. If that’s the case, Green Bay looks toward the future and can “red-shirt” Williams as he recovers from injury. They’ll give the franchise tag to Devante Adams and will be ready to roll with Williams in 2023.

29. Dolphins, Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia

I know a lot of mocks have Dean going much higher, but I look no further than last year, when another undersized linebacker was supposed to go in the 10-25 range, but ended up falling to the second-round: His name, JOK.

The Dolphins really need OL help, but ultimately can’t pass up Dean at this spot.

30. Chiefs, David Bell, WR, Purdue

The Chiefs have some free agents coming due in Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson. The 6-foot-2 Indianapolis native could take off playing with Patrick Mahomes.

31. Bengals, Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M

He can play guard or tackle. The Bengals will play him at the leakiest spot as they try and reduce the hits Joe Burrow’s been taking.

32. Lions, Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn St.

I could see the Lions going with Kenny Pickett here, but I just can’t quite put Picket in the first round. The Pitt QB was regarded as a great interviewer in Mobile, but that doesn’t mean whole heck-of-a-lot come draft if the talent just isn’t there.

Plus, Picket had trouble in bad weather while in Mobile, and while Detroit is a dome team, they are in the same division as outdoor rivals Green Bay and Chicago.

Dotson, is undersized at 5-11, but he has playmaking speed.
