Cleveland Browns nab stud WR, K in 2022 post Senior Bowl mock draft
Browns Round 2, Pick 44, DeMarvin Leal, DT, Texas A&M
One of the Browns greatest needs comes on the defensive line. Malik McDowell likely won’t return after his offseason trouble (he’s a free agent), while we didn’t see much from mid-round 2021 pick Tommy Togiai. Not counting him out, but the position needs fortified.
The Browns need to get better in the trenches, and that makes Leal the ideal fit.
In Cleveland’s defense, he’ll be a 3-technique tackle, who has potential to start on day one. For what it’s worth, Mel Kiper had Leal going in the first-round, to the Cowboys, so he’s right on the fringes of being a day-one talent.
Leal did have 8.5 sacks last season, which indicates he can, at the very least, provide some pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
The Browns have been trying to put together a front four capable of rushing without adding extra blitzes, but to this point, have been unsuccessful at consistently getting it done.
