What free agents should the Browns bring back for 2022

Should Only Be Brought Back at Right Price
DE Jadeveon Clowney
I liked what Jadeveon Clowney did for the Browns in 2021, but what is he going to ask for? If he wants to come back on a one or two-year contract at $8 or $9 million, then sure, make that happen. Just remember, he’s 29-years-old, injury-prone, and inconsistent against the pass. His contract should reflect his constant uncertainty.
OL Chris Hubbard
Anything more than a one-year deal for Chris Hubbard would be a mistake. He’s coming off of a massive injury and is going to be 31 years old to start the season. His versatility was hugely important in 2020 and his absence in 2021 was noteworthy. If he can return to form, he’d be a needed part.
LB Anthony Walker Jr.
Anthony Walker played very well for the Browns, and arguably had the best season of his career. He’s never proven he can have back-to-back seasons like this one, and the Browns should be wary that they got the “contract year” version of him in 2021.
OL Hjalte Froholdt
The Browns need depth on their roster and Hjalte Froholdt provides that at guard. Plus he’s Danish. How many Danish players are there in the league?
OL Blake Hance
While he struggled at tackle, Blake Hance has shown to be a valuable player at guard and the Browns shouldn’t hold it against him that he couldn’t replace Jack Conklin; because no one could have.
RB D’Ernest Johnson
The Browns would be a bit foolish to move on from D’Ernest Johnson. He’s shown to be a very impressive runner, and if the Browns re-sign him, they could possibly then use Kareem Hunt in a trade to improve the team elsewhere.
