3 biggest surprises from 2022 Cleveland Guardians Opening Day roster
The Cleveland Guardians have finalized their roster and will head into the 2022 MLB season with one of the youngest rosters in baseball.
If you’re hoping for a return to the postseason, “Youngest roster in baseball” proclomations in April usually don’t bode well for desired fall outcomes. Few prognosticators are expecting anything out of the G-Men, as 77 wins may even be a challenge.
The Guardians notably didn’t do much of anything during the lockout-condensed Hot Stove season, as the front office is ready to ride with their younger guys.
While there’s room for arguments of how it would’ve been nice to have Andrew McCuthen on this roster, there is intrigue over whether some of these younger guys can produce at the big-league level.
The Guardians have been collecting assets for a few seasons now, and it’s time to see if they can produce any fruit. Everyone loves to crack the payroll, but the Rays and A’s always seem to compete despite fielding a roster John Q. Public wouldn’t be able to decipher from ball player or insurance salesman.
I know…I know…no one goes to those games, too.
