Round 2, Pick 44: Cleveland Browns pick Travis Jones, DT UCONN, Grade-D

The Browns do need help on the defensive interior and Travis Jones is a fine prospect, but how realistic is that the UCONN product is going to be able to contribute significantly in year one?

Mock Draft author Josh Edwards writes Jones’ tape was “up and down” in college. If were talking developmental project, fine, but with no first-round pick, the Browns need to find someone with more bankable skills for 2022.

After all, we’ve seen players come from bigger programs who needed time to acclimate to the NFL. Jordan Elliott played in the SEC at Misssouri. He finally looks like he’s going to get regular reps and he’s entering year three.

Tommy Togiai entered his rookie season as a behemoth as a man, but even after playing at the NFL factory that is Ohio State, the first-year tackle eased his way into playing time.

The Browns are in their window to win and with a receiver need looming larger, I just don’t see this pick panning out.
