Round 3, Pick 78: Browns pick John Metchie, WR, Alabama, Grade-B

There’s reasons to like the player, but again, wish a receiver would’ve been the pick in the second round.

Metchie’s name is a common one when talking about receivers coming out after the first round. I’ve seen his name go in the second, as well. Not sure I’d take him there, as he had 6.3 percent drop rate.

He went to Alabama with No. 1 potential but was constantly overtaken by other players, such as Jerry Judy, Devonta Smith and Jameson Williams, for the No. 1 spot.

Metchie was hurt last season and he still offers a lot of upside.

Worth noting that the Browns have two third-round picks. Ideally, they’d find a way to climb back up into the first round, especially if a player like wide receiver Treylon Burks is still available in the 20s.
