The Athletic’s final Browns mock draft comes with big-time gamble
Round 3, Pick 78, Khalil Shakir, Boise State
With the Browns going defense in Round 2, they’ve got to take a receiver here and Boise State’s Khalil Shakir is Cleveland’s third-round pick.
You can nitpick over which receiver you’d like here, but it would seem Shakir would fit Cleveland’s offense nicely.
He’s not a big, imposing type, so at 6-foot, 196 pounds, he’d probably see time at the slot, but wouldn’t be limited there. His NFL.com draft profile said he can be “activated from a variety of alignments.”
The site also listed his NFL comparison as former Steeler Antwan Randel-El. For those who remember the wideout, you know he was a very, very good receiver. He especially excelled at torturing Bronws defensive backs.
If that’s the type of player Cleveland can unearth 78 picks deep into the draft, then this pick gets my seal of approval.
