The Athletic’s final Browns mock draft comes with big-time gamble
Browns Round 4, No. 118: Jeremy Ruckert, TE, Ohio State
Drafting a tight end is certainly in play for the Cleveland Browns, and Jeremy Ruckert could be one of those “value picks” mock draft gurus love to talk about.
He was opening eyes during the Senior Bowl, but then suffered plantar fasciitis in his foot. The injury cost him the rest of the pre-draft season. If healthy, he’d likely be drafted a little higher.
Jackson admits that it’s a long shot for two injured players to get drafted, but Ruckert should heal up enough to contribute in 2022. Additionally, there’s no need to rush him in with David Njoku and Harrison Bryant as the clear Nos. 1 and 2 on the depth chart.
Jackson argues that if Ruckert is healthy, he has “the size and athleticism to become a fourth-round steal…”
Berry has shown to draft players from bigger, more accomplished programs, and tight end is a position of need. That later reason suggests that this player could certainly be in play.
