5 potential players who could be surprisingly cut by the Cleveland Browns
By Chad Porto
Ronnie Harrison
As with the first two names on this list, Ronnie Harrison checks off three, maybe four of the criteria. For Harrison, he’s not a lock to be a “better option” at safety. The Browns have two young safeties that they’re really hoping turn into something in 2021’s Richard LeCounte and 2020’s Grant Delpit. There’s also linebacker/safety hybrid Tony Fields who could be an option at safety.
That’s one mark against him, but it’s also two. Harrison is 25 and while that’s young, it’s not as young as LeCounte or Delpit. So there are two.
The third mark against him is that the Browns can save $700k against the cap if they cut him after June 1. The Browns signed him to a new deal this offseason, that’s true, but that doesn’t mean the Browns can’t cut him and basically recoup all that money anyway.
The fourth mark against Harrison is that he has shown to be a bit of a hothead. He was a pain in the butt in Jacksonville and was dealt for next to nothing, and then in 2021, he got into a fight with a Chief’s assistant coach. Not exactly, someone, you can rely on to not hurt your team.
