1. Cleveland Guardians disappointment: Franmil Reyes

The lack of production at the plate from DH Franmil Reyes may be the biggest disappoint of the season. Here’s his stats through 40 games: .195 (.533 OPS), 3 home runs, 2 doubles, wRC+ 58, WAR -0.7, strikeout rate 39.3 percent.

Yikes. The ugliest stat is those five measly extra-base hits in 145 plate appearances–and striking out close to 40 percent of the time is cringe-worthy, too.

Reyes has always struck out a lot, but when he was doing it before, he was hitting bombs and driving in runs. Now, the Guards are getting virtually no production from a guy whose No. 1 job is to hit.

If there is a bright side, it’s that when Reyes gets hot, he can be lethal. Unfortunately, we’re closing in on June and there’s no signs he’s going to snap out of the slump he’s in.
