Nick Harris

When it comes to Nick Harris, he’s a guy who the Browns may not be angling to keep long-term. The Browns drafted him with the idea that he’d be the starter of the future and things have shaken out pretty much as expected. The team cut J.C. Tretter, the team’s best center by a country mile, and it looked like all things were a go for Harris.

The team signed Ethan Pocic, which on its own isn’t a problem. After all, you need two centers on the team, right? Then the Cleveland Browns drafted Deaton Dawson, making it pretty obvious that the team is doing everything they can to bolster the center position just in case Harris flames out.

If the team brings in not one, but two potential failsafe options, it’s a clear sign the team isn’t too high on Harris after all. I don’t see them signing Pocic or drafting Deaton just to cut them in the same year, and there’s no way the Browns are carrying three centers. So unless one of these two cats gets moved to a new position, someone’s gotta go, and I’m banking my money on Harris.

Time will tell how correct I am about that observation.
