His name was brought up before, so obviously Demetric Felton makes the list. See, it’s nearly impossible for me to find a scenario in which Felton and Anthony Schwartz both make the team in this year without there being a trade or injury. Now, if D’Ernest Johnson gets traded then there’s a shot for Felton to remain with the club.
If he doens’t, welp. See ya.
See, the Browns have five running backs right now in Johnson, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, rookie Jerome Ford, and John Kelly. That doesn’t count Felton, who makes it six. The Browns drafted Ford in the 5th-round, so unless he’s absolutely terrible, he’ll make the team.
Chubb, Hunt, and Johnson aren’t getting cut, though Hunt and Johnson are trade possibilities. Though unless that happens, they’re staying put. Kelly will likely be a practice squad player if he doesn’t get poached and that leaves Felton, the odd man out.
If Felton’s conversion to receiver does happen, however, then that means Schwartz is likely out of a job, as they wouldn’t move Felton over to receiver if they thought Schwartz was a talent they could use. After all, the Browns already have five receivers who are near-locks for the 2022 season and Schwartz isn’t on that list.
So either Felton moves to receiver, thus causing Schwartz to get cut, or the Browns cut Felton due to the glut at runningback.
