Special Teams

Kickers, Punters, and Long Snappers (3)

Keep: Cade York, Corey Bojorquez, Charley Hughlett
Cut: Joseph Charlton

– This is pretty obvious that only one of the four men will be cut. Right now Corey Bojorquez is the obvious leading candidate for the punter position and has had a better pro career to warrant the assumption that he’ll get the spot.

Total: 3

Final Evaluation

I have concerns beyond Deshaun Watson, and while many will dismiss them, I think they’re valid. Firstly, 13 receivers in camp is a sure sign that the team isn’t comfortable with what they have. That’s a robust grouping. Granted, most of these guys are going to play a lot in the preseason to avoid bigger names from taking too much damage in meaningless games, but to carry 13 players at one position is absurd.

Especially when only one, Amari Cooper, really doesn’t need to be out there. If that isn’t a sure sign that Andrew Berry knows his receiver corp is trash, I’m not sure what is. The idea of throwing bodies out there for preseason games is exactly why you’ll see a lot of D’Ernest Johnson, John Kelly, and Demetric Felton at running back, though two of them I fully expect to make the team.

The defensive line won’t have that same reprieve, however, as everyone but Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney will need to show what they can do over the course of all three preseason games, in order to earn their spot.

The secondary is also not something I have complete faith in. While the corners are great as far depth goes, Denzel Ward is inconsistent as a top guy, and the safeties are notoriously fickle right now. One injury could send this position into a tailspin of subpar play and big touchdowns, easy touchdowns given up.

I wonder if Andrew Sendejo is still playing…

As far as big releases go, Ja’Marcus Bradley, Marcus Santos-Silva, Nick Harris, Drew Forbes, Michael Dunn, and Jordan Elliot look like the most likely to get the boot. Then when Watson comes back, I expect Josh Rosen to get cut and maybe re-signed by the practice squad.

Who do you think the Browns will end up cutting that you find shocking?
