Least Surprising Cuts

CB Shaun Jolly

The Cleveland Browns have a huge listing of cornerbacks. Maybe not all elite talents but certainly NFL starter material. When you have Denzel Ward, Greedy Williams, and Greg Newsome to start off, and then you have the likes of A.J. Green and Martin Emerson, it’s hard to justify carrying someone like Shaun Jolly. Jolly is a good player, no doubt but the team just didn’t need him on the 53-man roster.

DT Roderick Perry

Unlike Shaun Jolly, the Browns weren’t set at defensive tackle. While the team has something in Taven Bryan, everyone else is suspect at their jobs. The team could have easily cut any one of the likes of Tommy Togiai, Perrion Winfrey, or Jordan Elliot and it would’ve made some sense (some). Perry was fine this preseason, and that’s a lot more than you can say about most. Yet, Andrew Berry can’t admit he’s wrong and will continuously keep his guys on the roster, despite their lackluster play.

DE Curtis Weaver

Curtis Weaver never should’ve been on this team in the first place and everyone not named Andrew Berry knew that. The Miami Dolphins got rid of him for a reason, and fans should really realize that if a team cuts a younger player with “potential”, that player should remain cut. Guys like them should be using the USFL, CFL, and XFL to prove themselves.
