5 Cleveland Browns who need to be cut before the 2023 offseason starts

Tommy Togiai
Potential, you cruel witch. There’s a theme here. Tommy Togiai needs to go. I liked the pick, I thought it was a reach but I liked the upside. He was strong like an ox and had some quickness for a guy his size that made people giddy. But never trust college football. There was a reason why he wasn’t a starter at Ohio State, and it was because he simply wasn’t good enough. Last I checked, the 2020 Ohio State Buckeyes didn’t have any first-round defensive tackles on their team. They didn’t have any NFL starters at defensive tackle on their team over Togiai.
It’s not like the position was flooded with talent, like the 2007 Arkansas Razorbacks running backfield, which featured Darren McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis. No, this OSU squad lacked any real star power at the defensive tackle position. Yet Togiai still went in the fourth round.
Make that make sense. Yes, there are some guys who simply go because they have crazy combine stats, and that was Togiai. He put up 40 reps on the bench press and Andrew Berry ended up slapping his knee and exclaimed, “That’s our man, right there!”
Sadly, Togiai wasn’t the only player from that draft who was selected for just one singular reason.
