Hjalte Froholdt

Falling into that same conversation as Jordan Kunaszyk is Hjalte Froholdt. Both men aren’t great players but both men could be fine options to re-sign by what they provide for the team. Froholdt is not a multi-positional player as some have been in the past, like Michael Dunn. Dunn’s injury, as well as injuries to Ethan Pocic and Nick Harris thrusted Froholdt into the starting lineup as a center.

It was not a position he did well in. But that doesn’t mean he’s a bad offensive linemen, it means he was a bad center. He still played well enough as a guard and as a sixth-blocker to warrant bringing him back, but you aren’t looking at starting him if he returns, even if he doesn’t play center again.

As with Kunaszyk, Froholdt is a guy you bring back at the right price and with the idea that you don’t have to go looking for a project pick in the fifth, sixth or seventh round this year’s NFL draft.

It’s like that old addage, it costs more to get a new client than retain the old one. Well in the NFL, it’s smarter to role with a known veteran ommodity than to try and replace him with an uknown, late-draft pick.
