Anthony Schwartz

It’s a bit shocking that we still consider Anthony Schwartz a part of this team, considering how bad he’s been. We don’t need to list stats, all we need to say is that he’s a wide receiver, taken in the third round, who can’t run routes or catch. The fact he’s still on the team as of the start of February 2023 is a shocker.

He’s so unreliable the Browns haven’t even used him as a returner, despite his speed. The best the team can get out of him is the rare end-around play because say what you want about him, what you can’t deny is that he’s fast. He’s stupid-fast. Which is the only reason the Browns have retained him.

The league is built on speed and a guy like Schwartz isn’t exactly easy to find. Yet, the Browns are only going to have more issues in 2024 when it comes to finding talent, and guys like Schwartz won’t keep getting shot after shot without the team eventually trying to see what else is out there. The team’s cap space over 2023 and 2024 is the best reason to keep him, as he’ll likely be super inexpensive compared to a free agent.

Yet, if a rookie gets drafted with similar attributes, it may spell the end for Schwartz.
