The Cleveland Browns‘ tight ends are the latest to have their own signature nickname.

Plenty of excitement surrounds Cleveland sports nowadays. The Cavs just re-signed LeBron James, while the Indians are still leading their division. Now, the Cleveland Browns’ season is officially under way!

Tonight is the first Browns preseason game of the season. A loose yet disciplined atmosphere is evident in camp and that should continue into the games. The discipline aspect is obvious with how head coach Hue Jackson has led the organization.

Regarding the loose part, the Cleveland Browns tight ends have taken a page out of Cleveland Indians 1B/DH Mike Napoli‘s playbook. Only this time, the Browns went to another level.

Napoli has provided the Tribe with some fun thanks to his “Party at Napoli’s” tee shirts via the social media website Twitter. According to Scott Patsko of Cleveland.com, the Browns’ tight end position is completely involved but starter Gary Barnidge is the headliner.

The Cleveland Browns tight ends’ nickname is “Gary and the Kids”. Those “kids” are obviously not such a title but outside of Barnidge, the players at that position are very young. Since the nickname is unique, it warrants tee shirts and that is exactly what happened.

Barnidge posted on Instagram a picture of himself, along with the rest of the tight ends in the gear. He gave credit to his position coach Greg Seamon in the picture.

Along with Barnidge are E.J. Bibbs, Randall Telfer, Connor Hamlett, Seth DeValve, J.P. Holtz, and David Reeves at tight end. The shirt Barnidge and company had on is a perfect matching name and logo.

That said, the shirt is still not on “Party at Napoli’s” level even though Nap’s is pretty generic. What I am curious about is why post the picture now and make the tee shirts before the regular season starts?

Barnidge had his best season of his career last season. Often times in 2015, he was the Browns only source of offense. Barnidge will again be relied upon to help carry the offense in the 2016 season. With so much uncertainty behind him, it would have been wise to wait on posting.

The Cleveland Browns will carry three, possibly four if you consider DeValve or Telfer as an athlete in general.

Some of the tight ends will not be here when Week 1 of the regular season starts. Closer towards that time would have been a better time to post the picture of the shirt.

An updated version of the shirt in a couple weeks would be great. The updated version could increase my interest. Possibly with a minor tweak or two I could end up buying it.
