Today was just the latest example of poor play by the Cleveland Browns. The Voice of the Fan said it how it is. He, along with many others feel we should be seeing a different product right now, but that is not happening.

Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton said they would be ready for the New England Patriots and head coach Bill Belichick. Well, there’s ready and there’s Horton’s idea of being ready.

The first half was ugly, as it was complete with yet another quarterback going down. Cody Kessler left with ribs and chest injuries.

On the play he was injured, It looked like another shoulder problem on a near sack as Kessler threw wildly from his goal line. The pass unfortunately went out of the end zone for a safety!

The offense doesn’t need to help Brady and the Patriots score points! That was also a really bad play call inside your own ten yard line. Speaking of bad-calls, there were several of those today and they just kept coming. Teams don’t call razzle dazzle plays down there for a reason!

Cleveland’s defense was even sadder as the defensive backs including Joe Haden, couldn’t cover my grandmother using a walker! New England wide receiver Chris Hogan today got behind Haden with his eyes in the backfield for a 60+ yard reception!

Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett had three touchdowns and was a complete mismatch all day. The Browns’ corners and safeties are a joke as is their giant lack of a pass rush. So far, all I’ve seen is regression and progression is out the window!

Cleveland has an immensely long way to go. If you ever played quarterback in high school, college or in your backyard, the Browns may be having tryouts in a neighborhood near you. That said, signing veteran quarterback Charlie Whitehurst was a complete waste of time!

I’m still trying to figure out how he’s still a viable option? Their total offensive production was 105 yards in the first half. Meanwhile, the second half was more of the same. Ineptness on both sides of the ball by the Browns was obvious; Especially by the offensive line. Porous is being polite.

Cleveland’s linemen simply can’t do the job on the right side or at center. They better rethink their stance on signing a few veterans in the offseason. The fans aren’t going to put up with this type of play for two years!

Despite all of that, the final score is not indicative of the way New England quarterback Tom Brady dominated this young and sometimes clueless team.

Even Whitehurst got hurt with a left leg injury. Cleveland will not improve to be in contention with the better teams until they find their quarterback and improve the offensive and defensive lines. The play of the entire defensive backfield and the consistency of a pass rush is a must and is needed ASAP.

In his return, Brady threw for 406 yards. The one good thing was the Browns limited the Pats’ rushing yardage (98). But the Browns too were held in check rushing as running back Isaiah Crowell had a rough day with 22 yards on 13 carries.

The final today was 31 to 13 New England. Browns head coach Hue Jackson has a lot of work to do. At this time we should be seeing progress weekly, but this was a step backwards.
