San Francisco 49ers 2015 Season So Far

Hard to believe that the ‘Niners went to the Super Bowl just three years ago.

Saying this 4-8 2015 49ers team is a shell of its 2012 self would be the understatement of the year. The famed San Francisco defense has lost their defensive captain in linebacker Patrick Willis and star defensive end Justin Smith to unexpected early retirements.

They also lost star defensive end Aldon Smith to the Oakland Raiders due to his handful of off the field incidents, as well as key defensive backs Perrish Cox and our very own Donte Whitner to the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns respectively.

Not only that, but they also lost key players tight end Vernon Davis, running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Michael Crabtree to other teams in the NFL as well via free agency or trade. Their former franchise quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is currently on injured reserved with a shoulder injury, will likely be gone this upcoming offseason, after the franchise has lost all hope in him going forward.

The 49ers have since turned to quarterback Blaine Gabbert to finish out the season and possibly even be their QB going into the next season.

Simply put, the 49ers are a mess compared to what they were a few years ago. They’ll be busy rebuilding this offseason and it may take another offseason or two before they get back into postseason contention. They are similar to the Browns in the sense that losing this game won’t be all that bad to them, as they need as many good draft picks as they can get to bring this team back to its former greatness.
