The Voice of the Fan wonders if the Cleveland Browns know what they’re doing by cutting fan favorite Joe

Let’s start with what happened today. The Cleveland Browns braintrust traded Cameron Erving to Kansas City for a fifth-round choice. Good move by Sashi Brown! Erving has had almost nothing but troubles since arriving here.

He was the 19th overall pick in the first round and yet another bust by this franchise! He was drafted in 2015 and has played center, tackle and guard and was found to be lacking in all positions.

He ranks right up there with picks like Johnny Manziel, Trent Richardson, Justin Gilbert and the rest of the flops this team has drafted since returning to the league in 1999.

Now let’s talk about one of their good picks in Joe Haden. A class act and a credit to this team, city and a general all-around good guy! I hate to see him go as he left all he had on the field every game.

He played hurt and at times got hurt and couldn’t go! But when he suited up he gave the fans here a player to follow. He and Joe Thomas were the faces of this team when the years were lean on the victory count.

But you never heard them complain. They got up for the next game and gave their all.

Haden signed with the Steelers. He got a three-year, $27 million contract. Forget that, what’s important is the guarantee, and he’s getting $7 million guarantees from the Squeelers. Someone still thinks he can still play.

The Dawg Pound is going to get to find out early on who was right on this one, with Pittsburgh awaiting Cleveland and rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer in Week 1.

The Steelers threw a ton of money at Haden to improve their conerback corps. They have a reputation for being smarter than the Browns, but this signing, considering the amount of money being paid to Haden, makes  you wonder about their judgment.

Good luck Joe except when you play the Brown. I hope Sashi Brown knows what he’s doing with this move.

Few probably realized that when the Browns signed Jason McCourty, Haden basically had one foot out the door. That ties in with the the contract given to Jamar Taylor last season, and the Brieann Boddy-Calhoun’s stock among the coaching staff.

Now the move naming DeShone Kiser the starter at quarterback.

I guess while seeing Cody Kessler and Brock Osweiler play in the exhibition games, Hue Jackson really didn’t have much choice. But I would have liked to see him sit at least half the year to assimilate to the NFL. This team has thrown so many young quarterbacks into the lions den and probably ruined a few.

It also might occur to Kizer after the first series in Pittsburgh that the regular season isn’t the same as preseason! I just hope he’s not carted of football the field. The receivers here leave a lot to be desired and still have problems uncovering from bump and run coverage. I’m not the only one not impressed by the receiving corps.

I’m hoping for a five win season this year anymore would be a bonus? What’s your guess?
