Cleveland Indians: 5 most likely spots for Jay Bruce
St. Louis Cardinals
Before the Cardinals turn their sights to Jay Bruce, rumor has it they’re going to try and and take Giancarlo Stanton away from the Marlins in an effort to correct their outfield holes.
But if that doesn’t work? Well, there’s Bruce, who isn’t too shabby.
Reds fans are probably doing a collective face palm over the idea of Bruce playing in St. Louis, but it isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
With that said, the feeling in St. Louis is that if the Cardinals wanted Bruce, they would’ve made a play for him before the 2017 trade deadline, according to St. Louis reporter Derrick Goold.
"“They didn’t see him as the sure thing they wanted, and thought they had just as much chance of getting his kind of production from a player already on the roster. That tells us something about the direction they want to go this winter, and where he would fit.”"
But this speaks to what the Daily Dish Blog is communicating. The Cardinals want Stanton. They may be willing to settle on Bruce.
Bruce would be a great fit in St. Louis. Even though the Cardinals can spend, the town qualifies as the kind of small town that Burce appreciates.
Plus, he spent the first seven years of his career playing in the NL Central. If he lands in St. Louis, there’s no doubt in my mind he’d continue to produce.
