If you’re taking anyone in the fourth, fifth or sixth rounds, your making a selection based off projections.

And that’s just what general manager John Dorsey would do if he selected Clemson corner Mark Fields.

Fields’ time with the Tigers just never came. He earned a starting job with the Tigers in 2017, but then missed six games due to injury. He was mostly a role player last season, but made scouts say, “Oh yeah, that guy is good,” during the College Football Playoff title game when he deflected to passes in the second half.

Fields is listed as 5-foot-10 and he ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash.

The thing about this prospect is that he looks inexperienced, probably because of his standing as role player. He was just never on the field a ton.

Like Long, Fields may be best suited for the slot, because as NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein pointed out in his NFL Draft profile, Fields looks like a natural when playing man coverage.

The Browns have three fifth-round selections. Fields would certainly be worth getting a closer look at with one of those picks.
