2. New Orleans Pelicans

When looking at the idea of trading Love to the Pelicans, the obvious connection with New Orleans is their top executive, David Griiffin, who was the GM of the Cavs when Cleveland won the title in 2016.

Griffin’s the one who pulled the trigger on the trade to acquire Kevin Love, trading No. 1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins to the Timberwolves for the stretch-four. Cleveland.com’s Terry Pluto recently wrote about how Griffin “loves” Love.

The Pelicans are an interesting trade partner because they are loaded with picks from theLakers in the trade that shipped Anthony Davis to the LA.

New Orleans is also an interesting potential partner because even if they get Love, there’s no guarantee the Pelicans will be good. Even with Love, they could still end up in the lottery. We all expect Zion to be great, but be real. LeBron didn’t even make the playoffs in year one.

Pairing him with Love would obviously make New Orleans better, but a playoff berth, especially in the Western Conference, is no sure thing.
