4. Olivier Vernon

Pro Football Focus graded Olivier Vernon graded out as the Browns best defender, according to Pro Football Focus.

Vernon led all edge defenders in Week 6 with an overall grade of (92.9) and run defense grade (95.4).

The veteran was credited with four tackles, including one going for a loss. He also forced a fumble that was recovered by Devaroe Lawrence.

Vernon’s effort wasn’t enough as Wilson racked up yards out of the pocket while Carson averaged 5.2 yards per attempt.

One man doesn’t make a defense and the Browns’ linebackers are drawing heat for their inability to cut down the rushing attack.

Vernon needed a good game because he had been one of the biggest disappointments of the season. He opened the season laying an egg, with zero tackles against the Titans.

He entered Week 6 with 11 total tackles and then had four by the end of the day. That stat alone goes to show how improved Vernon was in this game. Hopefully, he keeps trending upward because he’s earning way to much to be such a nonreactor.
