Take #3: The Browns need more dominant wins

Now, this take has come more recently with the wins over the Philadelphia Eagles this past Sunday, and the previous week against the Houston Texans. The Browns barely squeaked out wins over both teams, and it’s lit the pro football world on fire.

The Browns can’t avoid criticism when they’re losing, which is expected, and now when they win they’re being told they’re not winning well enough. The goalpost keeps being moved for this team and it’s honestly baffling. They’re not a good team if they’re not winning, and when they’re winning, they’re not a good enough caliber of a team to be a winning team.

Ugly wins are still wins. Just because they won in a bad fashion doesn’t take the point out of the win column. I’d rather see an ugly win from the Browns than anything they produced from any season prior to 2018.

In a lot of people’s eyes, the Browns may as well just stop playing because they’ll never be good enough. Even if they won every game the rest of this season, won the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl, most people would still say that it’s not enough,

I’ve never seen one team get so much flak for just not being good enough. No one criticizes the Detroit Lions for being bad the way they do the Browns. Is it because of how dominant they were in the pre-Super Bowl era? Or something I’m missing out on?

If you can tell me why the Browns are so heavily criticized and held to such a high standard, please feel free to let me know. Until then, let’s try and dial back on these weird takes and appreciate the Browns for what they bring to the field and the entire competition of the NFL in general.
