The Good

Baker Mayfield found a way

Baker Mayfield, on paper, didn’t have a big game, but if you watched him play you’d argue otherwise. Mayfield had a rough patch in the middle of the game where he went 0-for-7 but outside of that stretch, he went 17-for-20 on the day. He didn’t turn the ball over at all and threw a touchdown to Austin Hooper to push the lead further in the Browns’ favor.

Nick Chubb social distances his way to the endzone

Nick Chubb had one of the most spectacular runs of the year early in the game, where he cut through the Steelers defense with each, keeping large gaps between himself and the defense as he rushed his way into the endzone. Chubb was constantly able to gouge the defense all day, with no one from Pittsburgh being able to stop Chubb from hitting 1,000 on the season or averaging 7.7 yards-rushing on the day.

The offense stepped up.

Overall, the offense stepped up. Rashard Higgins had another nice day, as did Hooper who we mentioned before had a touchdown. Donovan Peoples-Jones went down with an injury but KhaDarel Hodge filled in nicely, even though he’s not the same type of player that Peoples-Jones is. The offensive line was much improved, finally being healthy with the returns of Jedrick Wills and Wyatt Teller to the team. Plus, as mentioned before, Chubb and Mayfield’s big contributions.

Setting up the rematch

Now the rematch is set. The rubber match to determine the season series will happen on Sunday night as the Browns take on the Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh with both squads looking to be as back to full strength as possible. It’ll be a completely different game than either of the last two encounters and fans in Cleveland can’t wait.
