3. Cleveland Browns CB A.J. Green

The Browns really liked A.J. Green in 2020. They didn’t end up drafting him, but sent him a nice bonus, as far as undrafted free agents go, to lure him to Cleveland.

Green spent most of the 2020 campaign on the practice squad, but with a year of experience and offseason to prepare, he seems poised to receive more reps, at least during the preseason.

For example, when Denzel Ward was pulled from a recent practice, it was Green who defensive coordinator Joe Woods sent in to play with the starters.

On July 30, Green tipped a pass that resulted in an interception.

Green possesses great size at 6-foot-2, and according to The Athletic’s Zac Jackson, “…He’s been able to get his long arms into the passing lanes of multiple quarterbacks the last several days.”

It’ll be interesting to see how things shake out in the CB depth room, with Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome expected to start on the outside, with Troy Hill covering the slot. M.J. Stewart, Greedy Williams will be competing for backup reps.

Keep in mind, though, you can never have enough cornerbacks, as we saw last season. If Green continues to practice with the starters, you can bet Woods will find a spot for him.
