1. Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield

It’s unbelievable that we’re even at this point, talking about who could replace Baker Mayfield, and where the former No. 1 overall pick might land next season.

Here we are, though, as the Steelers debacle left us wondering what the heck is going on between the team’s quarterback and head coach Baker Mayfield.

Right now, it sure doesn’t’ look like Mayfield will return in 2022, but time can heal wounds and until the Browns have someone else better to replace him with, he’s still under contract for $18 million.

If you’re a regular reader here, you know my faith in Baker has been eroding all season, especially because of his inability to deliver with the game on the line. I hit my point of no return in the Green Bay game. HIs coach didn’t do him any favors, but by the end of that game, I had no confidence in Mayfield to complete a forward pass.

For the 2021 season, Mayfield, in 14 games, saw his lowest touchdown total (17) and QBR (35.3). He also saw his highest sack percentage (9.3 percent of snaps). His interception rate of 3.1 percent trailed only that of the 2019 train wreck, in which 3.9 percent of Mayfield’s throws were picked.
