If you’re a fourth-round draft pick, and you’re no longer on the team that drafted you, nine times out of 10 it’s because you’re not that good. That’s not always the case, but it is for Sheldrick Redwine.

Being taken in the fourth round, there was a lot of hope that he could develop into a potential starter for the Browns down the road, or at the very least, a reliable special teams player and sturdy backup. That didn’t end up happening.

While on paper his rookie PFF score looks good, it was a misnomer and not indicative of his real skillset. Redwine would find himself gone from Cleveland after the 2020 season, being replaced by John Johnson III. He ended up heading to Carolina where he attempted to make some noise for the Panthers but they ultimately cut him as well.

That’s when the Dolphins signed him to their practice squad. He was eventually called up during the final weeks of the 2021 season and may have a shot to stick around long-term.
