Seattle Seahawks

This one seems like the most logical landing spot. It was the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts that seemed likely at first, but the Colts ended up not being a real player for Mayfield and instead went with Matt Ryan from the Falcons.

The Seahawks are not really a playoff team, it’s part of the reason why they traded Russell Wilson; they weren’t planning on competing. The team as a whole still has some pieces worth investing in, and if Mayfield can help surprise the teams in the NFC West while keeping the Seahawks competitive, then who knows what Mayfield’s future in Seattle looks like.

It doesn’t hurt that the quarterback draft class is filled with a bunch of guys no one is excited about. If the Seahawks decide to not draft a quarterback in the first or second round, and instead look to get players to build around Mayfield with, then this might be an interesting team. It’s highly unlikely the Browns and Seahawks meet in the Super Bowl or anything but the team may be better than previously expected.

After all, Wilson benefited a lot from Pete Carroll, and as long as he’s still there, Mayfield may be in a place where he can finally settle some roots.
