The good and the bad from the Cleveland Browns game against the Jacksonville Jaguars

The Bad
Deshaun Watson
I don’t like Deshaun Watson and that’s no lie, but we gotta be fair with how we handle his performance. He only threw five times in three drives and didn’t look good. He had a terrible pass on a bootleg that just went nowhere. Yet, while his passes looked iffy, he will likely look better the longer he plays in this system. As for Friday night, his stats wouldn’t have been nearly as bad if it wasn’t for…
Anthony Schwartz
Three targets and two drops. He’s so fast you don’t want to just cut him, but he can’t catch and the Browns receiving corp is so bad that you need all the help you can get, especially if you don’t add someone like Will Fuller to the crop of guys. It’s impossible to give Watson that hard of a time, considering just how lackluster those targets are. You may point out how good Rosen and Dobbs played, but they played against the second and third stringers, so it’s not a fair one-to-one.
Demetric Felton
Where was Demetric Felton? He had zero carries and was only targeted once on offense. He’s not a guy who’s going to get limited action due to his role with the team, as of right now he doesn’t have one. He’s not Kareem Hunt or Nick Chubb. So the fact he wasn’t playing a lot is concerning.
The offensive line
The first-time offensive line, both with and without Nick Harris did not look good. Too many guys got deep on passing plays, forcing Watson to roll out. Their pass-blocking was suspect last season, especially with the lack of Jack Conklin. The biggest issue was at center, and at left tackle, with Jedrick Wills not only not sealing off the edge at times but also getting flagged for holding. For Wills, if penalties and slow-footed issues weren’t his norms, it wouldn’t be a big issue, but these are the same problems he’s had for the last two seasons.
