Taven Bryan

When it comes to the Cleveland Browns, Taven Bryan may be the best defensive tackle they have. That’s also like saying he’s the tallest Hobbit on an NBA team. It’s really not an impressive feat. The entire defensive line has had its share of issues.

Whether it’s Myles Garrett disappearing for stretches, Jadeveon Clowney being utterly useless at times, or the defensive tackles all going missing at the exact same time, the team has gotten over little from this unit. There’s very little true, authentic pass rush, there’s absolutely no containment and let’s not even talk about the defensive line’s ability to get moved back like they were on ice.

Bryan is among the better of these options, but is he a good option himself? Well, he’s had some of the strongest games, and that’s something. He’s the highest-rated defensive tackle on PFF for the Browns currently and is the only one with a body of work that is actually pretty good.

He’s got to turn it around and start fighting off blocks better. No one is asking him to be Aaron Donald meets Warren Sapp, but he’s gotta be better than Orpheus Roye. Not at Roye’s peak, I mean right now. I think Roye, at almost 50 years old, could play better for the Browns.
