5 things you probably didn’t know about the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kevin Love
By Chad Porto
The Loves are a famous family
Kevin Love is one of the greatest NBA players of all time, so it should not be any shock to you (cus you just read about it) that Love is the son of a former NBA player. Love has transcended his father as an NBA player, and is far more pivotal and noteworthy of a player. Yet, it runs in the genes apparently.
While Love’s father Stan was dominating the basketball game in Oregon and playing in the NBA, Stan’s sister-in-law, Kevin’s aunt, was dominating another sport. Kathleen McCartney Hearst rose to fame in the 1980s as an ironwoman competitor and even won the 1982 Ironman World Championship in New York. She’s one of the greatest triathletes of the 1980s in part due to her success in New York.
…A very famous family
Yet, if you know anything about Love, anything at all, you may know that Stan Love’s brother, Mike Love, is a founding member of the iconic surf-rock band, The Beach Boys. Mike Love, however, was not the only member of the Love family to be a founder of the Beach Boys. In fact, four of the five founding members of the group were all part of the same genetic family.
Mike and Stan’s cousins, on their mother’s side, are in fact Dennis, Carl, and Brian Wilson, arguably the three most notable members of the band. The four of them would dominate the 1960s and fight for prominence with the likes of the Beatles for who the biggest band in the United States. Later, Stan would become Brian’s personal bodyguard and would attempt to help keep the troubled star off of drugs and on the straight and narrow.
